Heatwave

As I am sure you are aware, the Met Office is warning of unusual heat on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Although school shall remain open (we have not been advised to close), please be assured the safety of the children during this heatwave is our priority, and we will continue following the latest guidance from the Department for Education, Looking after children and those in early years settings during heatwaves.

I feel additional measures, however, are now essential for the welfare of both pupils and staff:

• Pupils should wear light-coloured, loose-fitting, comfortable clothing - school uniform need not be worn on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

• Sunhats with wide brims to avoid sunburn are recommended.

• Sandals are permitted; flip-flops are not advisable.
