Sleep
If a child in Early Years Foundation Stage falls asleep naturally during the school day, staff will ensure they are settled in a safe and appropriate location where they can remain within sight and hearing of an adult at all times. Children who are asleep will be monitored regularly to ensure they remain safe, comfortable and well, with the frequency of checks determined by the individual child and the circumstances. Staff will ensure that the child's face and airway remain clear and unobstructed, and that the sleeping environment is safe, suitable and free from hazards. Parents/carers will be informed if a child regularly falls asleep during the school day or if staff have any concerns regarding the child's sleep patterns or wellbeing. All instances of sleep during the school day will be recorded on Arbor.
