Since writing to you this morning about the approaching heatwave, the Met Office has raised its warning from amber to red for Wednesday and Thursday. Although neither the council nor the DfE have changed their advice, I have decided on the following:

• Just cold lunches will be served.

• School will close on both days at 1.15 after registration. Any child who cannot be collected at this time will be supervised in Apples & Pears, where there is air-conditioning; please email (admin@northaw.herts.sch.uk) if you anticipate difficulties.

• The Apples & Pears trip is cancelled, hopefully rescheduling for later this term.

Judgements such as these are always finely balanced; however, I would rather be too cautious.
