  After an extensive search, we have found a replacement for Trudy. Ms Amy Clarke has a wealth of experience, and we are delighted to welcome her to Northaw. Like Trudy, Amy is happy to be addressed by her first name. Trudy is leaving her role on 3 March.

• International Mother Language Day

  As I briefly mentioned in Northaw Newsround just before half term, today is International Mother Language Day, when the United Nations promotes linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Each year, I would like to use it as a moment to celebrate the languages heard and spoken by pupils at home and school. Teachers have been leading discussions in their classes and providing opportunities to use common words and phrases in languages encountered by the children.

  

• Annual Reports

  Annual reports are an invaluable opportunity for teachers to update parents and carers on pupils’ progress across the curriculum. As last year, we plan to send them home just before Easter, and there will be another parents’ evening in the summer term.
