What we have been learning 2023-24

Summer 2 Learning

We learnt about the history of Pride month, and the flag. We then made colourful hearts and celebrated our differences.

To introduce our new English topic and book ‘Cloud Tea Monkeys’ we learnt where tea comes from and even got to taste some different flavours of tea!

Summer 1 Learning

Exploring light and shadows in Science.

In DT we are making bread. For our Focused Task we created playdough for Acorns class. Here is the recipe if you would like to make it yourself at home:

 

For one playdough ball, mix together:

  • 8 tbsp plain flour
  • 2 tbsp table salt
  • 60ml warm water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • food colouring (optional)

Spring 2 Learning

We were lucky enough to have a WW2 day to start our history learning for next half term. We learnt all about how the war started, ration books and morse code.

Athletics at Wodson Park

In RE we have been learning and thinking about what Gospel means  to Christians and us. We learnt the story of the wise and foolish man. Please watch the video of us performing this below.

Oak class started our new half term by visiting Parliament. We learnt all about the history of parliament and then we had a tour. We learnt about the British Values and how a democracy works.

Our design brief was to make a moving toy for a KS1 child using a CAM and a follower. We researched different movements, before designing, making and then evaluating. 

Virtual school visit from the author SF Said. Oak class loved hearing about how he became an author. Look out for his books in your local library or book shop! Miss Kirk would love to hear if you read any of them.

This term we are learning about the Ancient Greeks. We all came dressed up as Ancient Greeks and had a fun day! We made wreath crowns, learnt dances and even had a Greek feast!
