We hope to start our Christmas Service at 9.30 on 20 December, and parents and carers are welcome to join us in church.
Along with carol singing and a performance from our choir, we are planning on retelling the nativity. I appreciate this is breaking with tradition and will disappoint some; however, the impact of lost learning following successive national lockdowns is a matter of significant concern, and we must prioritise remaining on timetable currently.
Every child in Apples & Pears, Willow and Oak will have a role to play, either reading a passage from Rhyming Christmas by Bob Hartman or acting in a series of accompanying tableaux. Acorns, of course, have their own presentation in school the day before.
Those pupils reading will bring home their lines today. They do not have to learn them; however, please support your child in practising delivery.
If your child is acting, they will have an opportunity to rehearse next week. Props will be provided to make their roles clear to the audience, so parents and carers do not have to worry about acquiring costumes.
This is an ambitious undertaking; however, we are very much looking forward to celebrating the birth of Christ together again.
